Primal Energies

The Crocodile or Alligator totem
contains the unbridled creative
forces of the world,
the fury and ferocity of Primal Energies.
It is the symbol of creation and destruction.

The Crocodile or Alligator is the keeper and protector of all knowledge.
She is the primal mother in whom all knowledge rests and waits to be born.
People with a Crocodile or Alligator totem have the opportunity
to develop new wisdom but they must be careful not to be consumed by this wisdom.
Study each bit of knowledge carefully before going on to the next.

Care of the eyes is important for Crocodile or Alligator people.
Also beneficial are breathing techniques like those practiced in Yoga.

When a Crocodile or Alligator shows up
look for an opportunity to touch very primal energies.
There will be an opportunity for new knowledge and wisdom.

The crocodile is a sand dweller, its habitat, a hole in the sand, serves as a bridge between earth and water elements. You could say that anyone meeting up with crocodile is straddling two worlds. The earth represents a firm ground, whereas water is more fluid. A person with crocodile medicine will not be swept away by emotional waves, nor is he rooted too deeply into rock where one could become stuck or rigid in his views. Crocodile totem is also representative of new growth because seedlings emerge from earth and water. When crocodile appears ask yourself what needs nurturing, or what new idea needs planted into the earth. Use your crocodile tears to water the seedling to bring forth new growth from energies within the depths of your being.

Silently slipping thought here riverine world, guardian of the margins between land and water, of the mud from which life springs. Crocodile is keeper of all knowledge. Her wisdom speaks both of the enduring nature of life and its utter fragility, of gentleness and ferocity of how death yields life and the constant transformation of all energy. If Crocodile has swum to you, the time has come to examine the primordial mysteries of life and prepare yourself for rebirth and the wonders it will bring your way.
